The Seedler in use.

The Seedler is a Hardmode broadsword that has a 1/7 (14.29%) chance of being dropped by Plantera. When swung, it fires Seedler Nut projectiles that travel in a downwards arc before exploding into 4–7 Seedler Thorns upon hitting an enemy or after 0.33–2.15 seconds.[1] Seedler Thorns deal 70% of the weapon's damage (35 base damage) and knockback (base knockback of 4.2 (Average)),[2] are unaffected by gravity, and target nearby enemies when fired.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes

  • Within a 125-tile radius, each Seedler Thorn is fired towards separate enemies if possible. Otherwise, Seedler Thorns are fired in randomized directions.[2]
  • The Seedler Nut emits light when exploding.
  • Melee speed modifiers do not increase the fire rate of Seedler Nuts; however, they do affect the velocity of the Seedler Nuts as well as the Seedler Thorns that derive from it. Both projectiles are affected by items that inflict additional debuffs (e.g. Magma Stone and its upgrades, flasks, etc.).

Tips

  • Despite the Seedler's comparably low damage stat, its large number of projectiles makes it competitive against weapons such as the Terra Blade.
  • Attacking segmented, worm enemies (such as The Destroyer) or large numbers of enemies (such as during events, like the Solar Eclipse) can do immense amounts of damage due to the enemy-targeting, exploding projectiles. This is particularly effective in large, open areas, like on the Surface or in large caves.

Trivia

  • The Seedler can be considered an upgrade to the Blade of Grass.
  • Prior to 1.3.0.5, the Seedler could be obtained by fishing in the Jungle in Hardmode.[3] Obtaining one at the beginning of Hardmode, prior to defeating any bosses, would put players at a significant advantage. Therefore, it was removed from the Jungle's fishing loot.
  • The Seedler Nut resembles a coffee bean.
  • The Seedler appears in the video game Dungeon Defenders 2 as part of a crossover.

  • Desktop 1.3.0.5:
