The Enchanted Boomerang is a pre-Hardmode boomerang. On the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, it is crafted with a Wooden Boomerang and a Fallen Star. On the Old-gen console version Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, it is found rarely in naturally-occurring Gold Chests.

Its best modifier is Godly or Demonic. Both modifiers increase the average damage output by the same amount. However, Ruthless might be preferred if the player already has very high critical strike chance.

Notes

  • The Enchanted Boomerang can travel for 0.5 seconds before it starts decelerating, and eventually turning around to return towards the player. This results in having a maximum range of roughly 22.35 tiles.[1]
    • Melee speed bonuses increase its velocity, which allow it to travel a further distance for this duration before it has to turn around.
      • Conversely, liquids will slow down the boomerang and reduce its range.
    • As soon as the boomerang begins decelerating, it gains infinite piercing and becomes capable of passing through blocks. This allows it to hit enemies multiple times near the end of its maximum range and slightly pass into blocks.
  • The Enchanted Boomerang has a top speed of 46 mph when returning to the player, and can only exist for up to 1 minute before despawning. It will also despawn if its distance from the player is more than 187.5 tiles.

Trivia

  • The Enchanted Boomerang resembles Link's boomerang from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
  • The Enchanted Sword can be considered its counterpart.
  • In the Mobile version Mobile version, when the player throws the boomerang in the air and then dies from fall damage, the boomerang will go into an infinite loop until they respawn.
  • Prior to 1.4.0.1, the Enchanted Boomerang would eventually catch up with the player if thrown up while falling a great distance. After 1.4.0.1, this is no longer true, and the boomerang will only catch up to the player when they stop falling.
