The Boomstick firing Musket Balls to attack Target Dummies.

The Boomstick is a pre-Hardmode gun. It can be found in Ivy Chests (21.72% chance) in the Underground Jungle, and also in Jungle Crates(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) (19/100 (19%) chance). When used, it fires a spread of 3–4 bullets, consuming one piece of ammunition.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Tips

  • Due to its high spread, the Boomstick has a greatly reduced effectiveness at long range. At close range, however, it can easily defeat most pre-Hardmode enemies in a few shots.

Trivia

  • The term boomstick is a reference to the 1992 American dark fantasy comedy movie Army of Darkness from the Evil Dead horror movie franchise, in which the protagonist, Ash, refers to his shotgun as a boomstick. The word has since become a common name for shotguns, particularly short-barreled, or "sawed-off" double-barreled shotguns, which this appears to be.
