The Volcano is a pre-Hardmode broadsword. When swung, it creates an explosion upon enemy hits, dealing 75% of the weapon's damage (30 base damage) to the enemy and 2 other targets in an area around the enemy.[1] The Volcano has a 1/2 (50%) chance to inflict the On Fire! debuff for 3 seconds, while its explosion is guaranteed to inflict it for the same duration.[2]

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes

  • The explosion persists for 0.17 seconds and deals damage within a 10×10-tile square area centered on the struck enemy.[3]
  • Only the first hit in each swing can create an explosion.[4]

Trivia

  • The sprite of the explosion the Volcano creates is shared by the explosions of the Solar Eruption and Daybreak.
  • The Steam badge depicting this weapon still refers to it as its previous name, Fiery Greatsword.
