The Meowmere is a Hardmode broadsword that has a 2/9 (22.22%) chance of being dropped by the Moon Lord . When swung, it fires a cat head projectile with a visual rainbow trail every 0.23 seconds. The cat head deals 125% of the weapon's damage (250 base damage), is affected by gravity, and can pierce enemies or bounce off blocks up to four times. Upon bouncing off a block, the cat head makes a "meow" sound and emits damaging rainbow explosions that grow in size with each bounce.
Its best modifier is Legendary .

Notes
The cat head projectile applies 10 ticks of local immunity frames on hit.[ 1]
The rainbow explosions deal damage to all enemies within a 3×3-tile rectangle centered on the point of impact and grow by half a tile each bounce, up to a 5×5-tile rectangle with the final explosion.[ 2]
The cat head travels at 61 mph without melee speed bonuses.
Tips
Its bouncing projectiles and explosions are very useful against crowds of enemies in small spaces, such as the Dungeon .
The cat heads can be reflected by enemies like the Selenian . Care should be taken around those enemies, especially at close range.
If the player is annoyed by the Meowmere's sound, they can alter the game's sound files to remove or change it. The relevant files are Item_57.xnb and Item_58.xnb in the sounds folder (<Steam folder>\steamapps\common\Terraria\Content\Sounds). They can be deleted or alternatively be replaced with copies of Item_8.xnb, a hardly noticeable sound .
Trivia
Its cat projectiles are inspired by the Nyan Cat meme, which debuted on YouTube in April 2011.
The Meowmere has the highest listed base damage of all weapons in the game, apart from explosives . However, other endgame weapons such as the Zenith , Terrarian , or Star Wrath have much higher DPS .
It was referred to as Meowmur before its release.[ 3]
In the Mobile version , the developers changed the game credits on April Fools' Day to mention a supposed new melee weapon that would shoot cat projectiles, referring to the Meowmere.Verify
The Meowmere appears as an item in three video games via crossover events: Dungeon Defenders 2 , Stardew Valley , and Palworld .
The sword itself resembles the Palladium Sword .
The meow sound effect is identical to that of which the Meowmere Minecart plays when the player jumps while riding it.
The Meowmere is Redigit 's favorite weapon.[ 4]
The Meowmere is also featured in many in-game paintings , such as Lady Of The Lake , Cat Sword , and r/Terraria .
Re-Logic has sent several people a physical replica of the Meowmere, including Pedguin [ 5] and ReedemtheD3ad!.[ 6]
