Nebula Blaze
Nebula Blaze Ex
The Nebula Blaze attacking a
Target Dummy and
Mimics. Note how the special attack deals higher damage and the projectiles home in on enemies.
The Nebula Blaze is a Hardmode, post-Lunatic Cultist magic weapon which inaccurately fires pink, high-velocity projectiles that home in on nearby enemies, with a 1/5 (20%) chance to fire a larger blue Nebula Blaze Ex projectile that deals 300% of the weapon's damage (390 base damage) and moves 60% faster.
When selected, it appears as a pink glow covering the player's hand, which gives off a small amount of light and leaves behind a pink particle trail as the player moves.
Its best modifier is Mythical.

Notes
- The projectiles apply 5 ticks of global invincibility frames upon hit.[1]
- The Nebula Blaze projectiles can home in on enemies within a 25-tile radius.[2]
- This homing range is increased to 50 tiles for Nebula Blaze Ex projectiles.
- After selecting a target, the projectiles will stay locked onto it regardless of distance and cannot target another enemy until their current target dies or despawns.
- Upon colliding with a solid block or when less than 1.25 tiles away from their target, the projectiles explode and deal damage within a 3.125×3.125-tile square centered on the point of impact.[3]
- The Nebula Blaze Ex projectiles are slowed down by liquids and can bounce off the surface of shimmer, while the regular Nebula Blaze projectiles are unaffected.
Tips
- Because of the high mana cost and fast use time, the Nebula Blaze consumes mana very rapidly. Be sure to have items that provide mana at the ready when using this item.
- Because of this weapon's inaccuracy, it is best suited for combat in open spaces. While fighting enemies in narrow passageways, such as those in the Dungeon, the projectiles often collide with walls.
- It is possible to reach or even exceed 3000 damage from a critical hit with the Nebula Blaze.
- When used for healing with Spectre armor, the Nebula Blaze can restore massive amounts of health in a single hit, but will also trigger a long cooldown before the healing can activate again. This makes it uniquely suited for healing as much health as possible during the few seconds when Moon Bite wears off.
Trivia
- The Nebula Blaze appears to be a magic glove or gauntlet.
- The Nebula Blaze has the highest base damage of any magic weapon.
- Its tooltip mentions Orion's Belt, part of the constellation of Orion.
- This may be a further reference to a quote by Dr. Otto Octavius from the 2004 American superhero film Spider-Man 2, "The power of the sun in the palm of my hand."
