The Magma Stone is an accessory that causes the wearer's melee attacks to inflict the Hellfire debuff for up to 6 seconds on targets.^[1] The Magma Stone also adds orange flame particle effects on the sprites of both the weapon and its projectiles that give off light. It has a 1/50 (2%) chance to be dropped by Lava Bats and a 1/150 (0.67%) chance to be dropped by Hellbats in The Underworld.

Notes

• Though the tooltip does not specifically say so, the fire effect works not only on melee weapons, but also tools that inflict melee damage, such as pickaxes, axes, and hammers.
• Whips are not affected by the Magma Stone, despite being affected by many melee-related stats, and even some of the other bonuses of the Fire Gauntlet.

Tips

• Lava Bats are three times more likely to drop this item than Hellbats, so it is significantly easier to farm after defeating a mechanical boss.
• The Magma Stone's effects stack with those of Frost armor, flasks, and the Shadowflame Knife.
• Using the Magma Stone with any yoyo is useful for quickly mapping out underground caverns.
• The Magma Stone can be very useful when dealing with The Hungry. However, the Wall of Flesh itself is immune to the debuff inflicted by the Magma Stone.
