The Lava Waders are an immunity accessory crafted from Obsidian Water Walking Boots, Lava Charm and Obsidian Rose, and combines their functionality. They grant the following effects when equipped:

  • The ability to stand and walk on the surface of all liquids.
    • When walking on liquid, press the ▼ Down key allows submerging into the liquid.
  • Prevents fall damage when landing on the surface of any liquid.
  • Immunity to the Burning debuff.
  • Immunity to lava for 7 seconds.
  • Decreases the damage taken from lava from 80 to 35, and reduces the duration of On Fire! debuff inflicted by lava from 7 / 14 / 17.5 seconds to 3.5 / 7 / 8.75 seconds.
  • Equipping the Ash Wood armor at the same time provides immunity to lava damage and debuff.

Notes

  • The Lava Charm, Molten Charm, Magma Skull, Molten Skull Rose, and Terraspark Boots all stack with the Lava Waders to increase lava immunity by 7 seconds each. The Demonic Hellcart also gives an additional 7 seconds. Of these, only the Demonic Hellcart is not itself a Lava Charm upgrade.
    • In Classic Mode the player can equip 5 of these accessories and the Demonic Hellcart to increase lava immunity to a maximum total of 42 seconds.
    • In Expert Mode the player can equip and additional 6th accessory after consuming the Demon Heart, resulting in a maximum total of 49 seconds of lava immunity.
  • It is still possible to fall through liquids whenever there is a change in its fluid level (e.g. when standing on lava and mining Hellstone).

Tips

  • Lava Waders are beneficial for mining Hellstone, and during the Wall of Flesh fight, if a walkway has not been built.
  • Equipping the Flipper in addition makes it possible to swim in lava.
  • Lava Waders can be useful for picking up drops in traps and farms where a thin layer of lava is used to kill enemies without destroying their drops.
  • Combining Obsidian Water Walking Boots with either the Molten Charm or the Molten Skull Rose is not recommended as this will result in a waste of an Obsidian Skull. Note that one of the Molten Skull Rose's recipes allows wasting an Obsidian Skull as well.
