The Obsidian Rose is an accessory that reduces the base damage taken from lava from 80 to 35 and halves the duration of the On Fire! debuff inflicted by it from 7 / 14 / 17.5 seconds to 3.5 / 7 / 8.75 seconds.^[1]

Additionally, equipping both Ash Wood armor and the Obsidian Rose (or its upgrades) provides immunity to lava damage and debuff.^[1]

The Obsidian Rose has a 1/20 (5%) chance of being dropped by Fire Imps, an enemy found in The Underworld.

Notes

• Equipping both Ash Wood armor and Obsidian Rose will still consume the lava immunity time granted by lava immunity items.
• The effects of the Obsidian Rose and the accessories crafted from it do not stack; wearing two or more does not reduce the base damage of lava below 35.
• In Don't dig up and Get fixed boi worlds, where lava is more hazardous, the Obsidian Rose and the accessories crafted from it decrease the damage from 200 to 155 and the duration of On Fire! from 10.5 / 21 / 26.25 seconds to 7 / 14 / 17.5 seconds.^[1]

Tips

• More effective and easily accessible means of surviving contact with lava, such as Obsidian Skin Potions and Lava Charms, become available during or even before the stage of progression where a player could reasonably begin looking for an Obsidian Rose. Combined with how rarely it appears, and the fact that all its alternatives prevent lava damage outright, an Obsidian Rose has usually outlived its usefulness before it is even found.
  • However, the Obsidian Rose can be crafted into Lava Waders, which themselves are an ingredient in the highly useful Terraspark Boots.
• The Obsidian Rose can be dropped by Fire Imps spawned from the Imp Statue,^[2] albeit at a reduced drop rate of 1/400 (0.25%) rather than the usual 1/20 (5%).
