The Spectre Boots are a pre-Hardmode accessory crafted from Rocket Boots and either Hermes Boots, Flurry Boots, Sailfish Boots(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), or Dunerider Boots(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), and combines their functionality (except the faster speed on sand from Dunerider Boots).

They grant the following effects while equipped:

  • The ability to sprint, allowing the player to reach maximum running speed faster. The player will leave behind a visual trail of dust clouds as they sprint.
  • Increased maximum movement speed to 31 mph (22.73 tiles/second).
  • The ability to hold ↷ Jump in midair to fly for a total of 1.17 seconds. While flying, the boots emit a visual cloud trail.

Notes

  • Flight time is reset immediately when the player lands on any solid object, or latches onto a surface with a hook.
  • The flight time is cumulative, which means that it can be broken up into split-second bursts.
  • The flight time cannot be stacked with its upgrades.
  • Spectre Boots have a maximum ascent speed of 38 mph.
  • When paired with wings, the flight of Spectre Boots will be disabled. Instead, it directly adds 0.7 seconds to the wings' flight time.
  • Regardless of which boots are used to craft them, Spectre Boots will always use the Hermes Boots' dust particles for its running animation.

Trivia

  • Despite having "Spectre" in its name, the Spectre Boots are not made from either Ectoplasm or Spectre Bars.
  • Mounting while flying will blow out the rocket particles for a short time. This also happens if the player dismounts while flying, though it lasts slightly longer.
  • While flying, the dust particles will override the fire trail effect of Molten armor.
