Using The Rotted Fork to attack Target Dummies. Note its piercing abilities and shockwave's ability to reach an extra enemy.

The Rotted Fork is a pre-Hardmode spear that has a 1/5 (20%) chance of being obtained from destroying Crimson Hearts found in the Crimson or a 1/5 (20%) chance from Crimson Crates and Hematic Crates. When thrust, it creates a small shockwave at its tip.

Its best modifier is Godly or Demonic. Both modifiers increase the average damage output by the same amount. However, Ruthless might be preferred if the player already has very high critical strike chance.

Notes

  • Including the shockwave at end of spear, The Rotted Fork has a maximum range of approximately 11.58 tiles.[1]
    • Melee speed bonuses can increase its range, in addition to increasing its attack speed.

Tips

  • It is a very effective weapon against the Brain of Cthulhu, as it can easily kill the Creepers in the first phase and knock it back in the second phase.

Trivia

  • It resembles a real-life guandao, a type of Chinese pole weapon that is used in some forms of Chinese martial arts.
  • There is no Corruption equivalent to The Rotted Fork.
  • Modifier prefixes are added in front of the "The" in its name, which can result in a grammatically incorrect name such as "Keen The Rotted Fork". It shares this trait with all other items that can obtain modifiers and whose names begin with "The".
