The Chattering Teeth Bomb is a Hardmode enemy spawned by Clowns during Blood Moons. It hops about, similarly to the Herpling, making small jumps and then large jumps as it makes its way toward the player to explode.
Notes
- They will immediately explode if they come in contact with any liquid.
- Chattering Teeth Bombs can be very dangerous; they can spawn in early Hardmode, posing a major threat to any player still using pre-Hardmode gear. Even with early-Hardmode equipment, their high damage and non-trivial durability make them a serious hazard for Hardmode Blood Moons.
- Although they spawn during the Blood Moon event, they cannot drop Bloody Tears.
Tips
- Since they are spawned by Clowns, the Clowns should be a priority to stop Chattering Teeth Bombs from spawning.
- They cannot jump to platforms above 11 tiles high, allowing for safe killing with ranged or magic weapons, although be wary of nearby structures onto which they can jump.
- Due to their small size, they are hard to hit. Homing projectiles might aim for nearby enemies during the increased spawns of a Blood Moon, making splash damage an ideal tactic. Weapons such as Grenades, Exploding Bullets, or fast shooting weapons such as Crystal Storm and Laser Rifle are optimal.
Trivia
- Chattering teeth or chattery teeth are a real-world wind-up toy comprised of a pair of plastic teeth, often on small feet. When wound up and released, the teeth clatter and move about erratically.
- Chattering Teeth Bombs bear a loose resemblance to the Bob-ombs from the Japanese media franchise Super Mario.
- The
Bestiary entry for the Chattering Teeth Bomb: "A playful prank gone wrong, clowns will unleash these explosive chompers on their enemies. Also great for parties!"
History
- Desktop 1.4.4:
- Damage of Chattering Teeth Bomb reduced from 200 to 120.
- Chattering Teeth Bombs now have a sound effect when spawned and occasionally played passively, helping the player to be aware of them.
