The Blood Squid is a flying Hardmode enemy summoned by the Dreadnautilus during a Blood Moon. It resembles a regular Squid, but is larger, redder-colored, and has multiple eyes on its body, similar to the Drippler. The Dreadnautilus always summons Blood Squids in groups of three.
The Blood Squid attempts to close in on the player before firing a single red Blood Shot projectile at the player, similar to the Dreadnautilus's own Blood Shots, but with higher damage. Like the Dreadnautilus, it recoils after each shot.
Notes
- If the Blood Squid is within 25 tiles of the player and has clear line of sight, it will fire Blood Shots once every 2 seconds.[1]
- Hitting the Blood Squid will reduce its attack cooldown by 0.17 seconds, allowing it to attack faster.
- If the Blood Squid does not have a line of sight to the player or if the player is not close enough when its attack cooldown ends, then the cooldown will be reset to 1.17 seconds.
- The Blood Shots can be aimed at any point within a 12.5×12.5-tile square centered on the player, meaning they are fairly inaccurate and could miss even if the player is standing still.
- The Blood Shots fired by Blood Squids cannot go through blocks, unlike the ones fired by the Dreadnautilus.[2]
- Blood Squids will quickly fly upwards and despawn if it becomes daytime.
Trivia
- The
Bestiary entry for the Blood Squid: "Summoned in small groups by the Nautilus to aid their master in battle. Thick are the streams of blood squirted from their bodies."
- This entry refers to the Dreadnautilus as just the Nautilus.
