The Blazing Wheel is an invincible NPC found in the Dungeon that resembles a ring of fire. It travels along the surface of blocks at a very fast speed.
Blazing Wheels spawn most often in areas of the Dungeon backed by tiled walls. They can also spawn in other areas, but with a significantly reduced chance.
Notes
- Since the Blazing Wheel is an enemy, it has all the features a regular enemy has:
- It spawns and despawns off-screen just like any other enemy.
- It can damage friendly NPCs, such as the Bound Mechanic.
- It can be moved by Teleporters.
- It is counted by the Radar(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).
- The Blazing Wheel travels along solid surfaces, with following traits:
- It will go through open doors, but not through closed ones.
- It travels through platforms, not along them.
- It will travel along actuated blocks as if they were solid.
- If a Blazing Wheel is surrounded with blocks until there are only 2–3 tiles of space for it to maneuver, it will despawn.
- If all of the blocks the Blazing Wheel is traveling on are removed, it will fly towards a random solid surface nearby.
- The Blazing Wheel's movement is not restricted to the Dungeon biome. If given proper terrain and it does not despawn, it can eventually go outside of the Dungeon.
- Though Blazing Wheels appear to be ablaze themselves, they do not inflict the On Fire! debuff.
- The Blazing Wheel AI is nearly identical to the Snail AI.
Tips
- To avoid the Blazing Wheel's attack, look for its light in dark areas, move as far away as possible, then jump or avoid it.
- A useful way to avoid being hit by the Blazing Wheel is to use a multi hook to stay suspended in midair, rather than standing still on a Dungeon surface.
Trivia
- Although the Blazing Wheel cannot be damaged, it has most of the statistics of a normal enemy, including a death sound, a hit sound, defense, and immunities to a few debuffs.
- The Blazing Wheel is likely based on the Hothead from the Mario franchise, as it moves in a similar matter when climbing on walls and ceilings while also being fire-themed.
- Blazing Wheels also resemble Rinkas from the action-adventure game series Metroid.
History
- Desktop 1.4.0.1: Fixed a tendency for certain automatic attacks like Sentries or Chlorophyte Armor to attack Blazing Wheels.
- Desktop 1.2.3:
