HellhoundHardmode exclusive
The Hellhound is a Hardmode, post-Plantera enemy that begins to spawn during wave 3 of the Pumpkin Moon event. Hellhounds follow the Unicorn AI and run and leap towards the player to deal contact damage; the player will be barely able to outrun them with boots or similar movement accessories, thus attacking them while out of their reach is important while fighting them.
Defeating a Hellhound during the Pumpkin Moon event will add (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 5 / 10 / 15 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 4 points to the final score.[1]
The Hellhound requires 100 kills to be awarded completion of its Bestiary entry and corresponding banner, as opposed to the usual 50 kills.[2]
Notes
Trivia
- Hellhounds are mythical beasts, mentioned in the mythologies of various cultures, that are often related in some way to death, the afterlife, or the supernatural. While their physical characteristics may vary, they are commonly portrayed as possessing black fur, immense size and strength, and red eyes or an association with fire.
- The
Bestiary entry for the Hellhound: "Most certainly not a good boy, this vicious demon dog is more than eager to guide living beings to the underworld with every bite."
