The Green Slime is a pre-Hardmode enemy and a slime variant that commonly spawns in Forest biomes during the daytime. It is the weakest slime and also one of the most common ones to encounter, likely making it the first enemy a player will come across in a new world. Green Slimes will not target the player under usual circumstances, but will become aggressive when damaged, during the night, or if brought underground.

Like most other slimes, the Green Slime will be passive towards any player with the Royal Gel(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) accessory equipped.

On  Desktop,  Console,  Mobile, and 3DS, they can rarely be found carrying bonus drops, which the player receives upon the slime's death.

Desktop/Console/Mobile-Only Content: This section's information applies only to the Desktop, Console, and Mobile versions of Terraria.

• Green Slimes are more likely to spawn in place of other slimes when the player is within 200 blocks horizontally of the world's spawn point. This does not occur in Expert Mode(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).
• During the Slime Rain event, Green Slimes can fall from the sky regardless of the biome or time of day.
• On Windy Days, Green Slimes can spawn attached to a Windy Balloon.
• Green Slimes are abnormally strong in an Expert Hardmode world despite otherwise being the weakest slime. They deal more damage and have more health than any other pre-Hardmode slime (excluding King Slime) and even some Hardmode slimes.
