The Rock Golem is a powerful Hardmode enemy that spawns in the Cavern layer. It throws rocks at players that are within its line of sight but out of its contact range. When being attacked, it continues to attack, making stun-lock options unusable.
In For the worthy and Get fixed boi worlds, Rock Golems release a Boulder projectile on death.
Notes
- The Rock Golem can only spawn on Stone Blocks. It will never spawn in the Ice biome, even if there are Stone Blocks present.[2]
Trivia
- The Rock Golem and Gem trees are the only renewable sources of Stone Blocks in a world.
- One may also get a renewable amount of Stone by Shimmer decrafting (e.g. buy Furnaces from the Merchant when he is in the Jungle and decraft them).
- In Jewish folklore, a golem (/ˈɡoʊləm/, GOH-ləm; Hebrew: גולם) is an animated anthropomorphic being that is created entirely from inanimate matter (usually clay or mud). The word was used to mean an amorphous, unformed material in Psalms and medieval writing.
- The
Bestiary entry for the Rock Golem: "Dense-minded living stone formation. Awaits weary cavern dwellers to pound them into juicy rubble."
History
- Desktop 1.4.4:
- Now throw rocks less frequently and the rocks move a little slower as well.
- Spawn rate reduced, and base coin drop value reduced from 5 GC to 2 GC50 SC. Rock Golem Head drops twice as often (1/10 (10%) chance instead of 1/20 (5%)) to account for the rarity change.
- Desktop 1.4.1: Fixed an issue where the Rock Golem's projectile damage scaled twice, resulting in it doing far more than it should have, especially in Expert/Master. Previously, projectile damage was 42 / 170 / 382.
