Hellfire Arrows in action.

The Hellfire Arrow is a pre-Hardmode arrow that explodes upon impact, damaging all enemies in a small area.

Hellfire Arrows can be found in Shadow Chests and Pots in The Underworld, crafted at an anvil, or purchased from the Demolitionist for 1 SC each in Hardmode.

Notes

  • The Hellfire Arrow's explosion covers a 4×4-tile rectangular area centered on the point of impact.[1]

Tips

  • Hellfire Arrows can be very useful against tight packs of enemies and worm enemies such as Bone Serpents, as the explosion may damage multiple segments.

Trivia

  • Despite the name, Hellfire Arrows do not inflict any debuffs.
  • Hellfire Arrows are the only type of arrow (beside basic Wooden Arrows) to transmute into Shimmer Arrows when thrown into Shimmer instead of being decrafted into its components. This is most likely implemented to prevent the early obtainment of Hellstone Bars.

History

  • Desktop 1.3.0.1:
    • Damage increased from 10 to 13.
    • Crafting recipe changed.
    • No longer damages the player.
