Crimtane Ore is a pre-Hardmode ore. It is the Crimson counterpart to The Corruption's Demonite Ore and will not appear naturally in Corruption worlds. It is primarily dropped from the Brain of Cthulhu, as well as the Eye of Cthulhu in Crimson worlds.

Crimtane Ore can also be found rarely in small veins underground. When below 0 ft in elevation, a Gold Pickaxe or better is needed to mine it, otherwise any pickaxe can be used.

Notes

• Crimtane Ore emits a faint red glow when placed, similar to Demonite Ore's faint blue glow.
• Crimtane Ore does not spread the Crimson at any time.
• While Demonite Ore can be found in large groups in Corrupt chasms, Crimtane Ore does not have a boosted rate in Crimson chasms.

Tips

• Crimtane Ore can be mined early on using explosives, granting players powerful Crimtane gear in the early game.
• If one is looking to make money, selling Crimtane Ore yields considerable amounts of gold. This method works at any point in the game, and gets better as the player progresses.
