The Iron Pickaxe is a pre-Hardmode pickaxe. It can mine blocks weaker than Meteorite. In Journey Mode(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), the Iron Pickaxe replaces the Copper Pickaxe as a starting item for new characters.

Its alternate ore counterpart is the Lead Pickaxe. The Iron Pickaxe has slightly less pickaxe power, damage, and mining speed.

Its best modifier is Light for harvesting purposes and Legendary for combat purposes.
