Lucy the Axe is a pre-Hardmode axe that has the unique ability of occasionally displaying a line of dialogue depending on certain player actions. Lucy the Axe also has a base 14% critical strike chance, as opposed to the usual 4%. Lucy the Axe has a 1/4 (25%) chance of being dropped by Deerclops.

Its best modifier is Light for harvesting purposes and Legendary for combat purposes.

Dialogue

When cutting down a tree:

• "Again! Let's chop another!"

Lucy the Axe's emote.

• Lucy the Axe seems to cycle through its dialogue rather than picking randomly.
• It will make the player emote the Axe emote whenever it speaks.

Tips

• Lucy is tied for the second-highest axe power in the game, making it the best pre-Hardmode axe along with the Molten Hamaxe and the Axe of Regrowth.
• As a weapon, Lucy the Axe is stronger than Volcano and equal to Muramasa. Lucy benefits more from melee speed compared to Volcano, but has shorter range. Short range can make it difficult to use as a weapon against bosses, but if Deerclops is defeated early, it can be a very solid weapon, particularly against Eater of Worlds and Skeletron.

Trivia

• Lucy the Axe is the only item with dialogue.
• The tooltip is a reference to Woodie's dialogue when examining Lucy the Axe in Don't Starve, which is, in turn, a reference to the popular 1950s sitcom I Love Lucy.
