Striking Moment

  

Desktop/Console/Mobile-Only Content: This information applies only to the Desktop, Console, and Mobile versions of Terraria.

Striking Moment is a buff granted for 5 seconds when an enemy attack is specially blocked; an enemy attack can be blocked in this way right before damage is taken by pressing ⚷ Open / Activate while holding a Brand of the Inferno or Sergeant United Shield, with a shield accessory equipped. If a Sergeant United Shield is not being thrown, the equipped shield accessory is unnecessary. Striking an enemy with a melee weapon when the buff is active deals 500% (five times) the usual damage, after which the buff will be removed. This bonus can be used with any melee weapon.

Notes

• For melee weapons that can deal a "melee hit" (see List of items that deal melee hits for the full list), if any entities are hit by the item itself during the use animation, the damage bonus will be applied to all of them. If the item can also create projectiles on hit (this includes the Muramasa and Volcano), the projectiles created also inherit the damage bonus.
• For melee weapons that deal damage via a projectile, only the first entity hit by the projectile receives the damage bonus. This also includes attacking with melee weapons that perform both a "melee hit" and fire a projectile, but when no entity is hit by the weapon itself during its animation.
• The following projectiles will not be affected by this buff, to prevent lingering projectiles triggering the bonus repeatedly.^[1]

• Desktop 1.4.2.1: Fixed tooltip incorrectly stating 500% increased damage, now correctly states 400% increased damage (500% total).
