On the Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, Crystal Shards are always dropped by Arch Demons in stacks of 3–4 and are thus available in pre-Hardmode. They cannot grow on Pearlsand Blocks on these versions.

Crafting all items, including only one color of Phasesaber and excluding consumables and furniture requires a total of 135 Crystal Shards on the Old-gen console version Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version. The amount required to craft every weapon and every color of Phasesaber is 385 Crystal Shards.
