Legacy:Trees

Old-gen console versionNintendo 3DS version
This is the Legacy page whose information relates to the article Trees.
It applies only to the Old-gen console and 3DS versions of Terraria, detailing their differences from modern versions.

Vanity trees, Bamboo stalks, Ash trees, and gem trees are not available, trees cannot be shaken, and there is no tree-shaped cloud.

The Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version does not include Palm trees and Boreal trees. The Snow biome contains Snowy trees instead, which drop Acorns and normal Wood. Acorns planted on Snow Blocks in any biome will produce Snowy trees.

Cactus plants can be harvested instantly by mining or hammering the Sand Block the Cactus plant grows on.

Mahogany trees can spawn underwater. In Hardmode, Corruption and Crimson spread through mud, replacing it with dirt, and Mahogany trees turn into the respective infected trees. Because the ground is converted to dirt, cleaning either infection will turn an infected tree into a Forest tree, so Mahogany trees cannot be restored once they are infected.

The vertical clearance required by most Saplings is 16 tiles. Mahogany trees require 24 tiles and Palm trees require 30 tiles. Saplings must be off-screen in order to become trees; they will not grow when currently in view, unlike most other plants which can grow while being watched.
