Legacy:Meteorite (biome)
On the
Old-gen console version and Nintendo version, an area is considered a Meteorite biome if there are at least 50 blocks of Meteorite nearby.
On these versions, a meteor has a 50% chance to crash after a Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart is smashed. The Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu does not have to be defeated. The biome is generally spawned at the next midnight, but it can spawn immediately if the Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart is broken between midnight and dawn (12:00 AM – 4:30 AM).
Additionally, on these versions each night has a 1/50 (2%) chance that a meteor will randomly fall upon midnight, if at least one Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart has already been smashed in the world. These conditions are checked upon dusk (7:30 PM).
Notes
- Meteors may land on the Dungeon or Jungle Temple on the
Old-gen console version and Nintendo version.
- Breaking a Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart several times between 4:30 AM and 12:00 AM will only have a chance to cause one meteor to fall at midnight; the event does not stack. Breaking Shadow Orbs or Crimson Hearts repeatedly between 12:00 AM and 4:30 AM may still spawn multiple meteors, however.
- On the Nintendo
version, the music track The Underworld will play instead of Eerie while in the Meteorite biome.
- On the
Old-gen console version and Nintendo version, no animated falling meteor is visible in the background.
Tips
- (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Angled Meteorite ores can be touched without taking Burning damage. Leaving a block alone every few rows and angling it with a hammer will allow using it as a platform to dig deeper down. One can also dig underneath the crash site, using other block types to stand on while mining the Meteorite above.
