On the Old-gen console version Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, since Hellstone can be obtained pre-boss (if the Reaver Shark is obtained early on), the Handgun can be easily upgraded to the Phoenix Blaster, which gives an additional 7 damage and increased velocity by 3.
