Statistics
Type

On the Old-gen console version Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, the Angler cannot defend himself against enemies. He also does not state the location of a given quest fish. On the Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, the player does not need to press a button to initiate a quest, as it will be given as soon as the Angler is spoken to.

After the 150th completed quest, the quest reward chances permanently reset to their base rates, as if the player had never completed any quests at all. At this point, reward chances are actually slightly worse than for the 1st completed quest – e.g. the base chance of receiving any kind of bait in a reward drops to exactly 50/100 (50%), which is lower than the first-quest rate of 50/99 (50.51%). Coins are not affected by this and continue to scale up to a maximum of 10 GC per quest. Bait amounts are likewise not affected by this and continue to scale up to a maximum of 7 bait, but the chance of receiving bait in a reward – and if so, which type – are affected. Moreover, the number of coins awarded by the Angler for completing a quest is not doubled in Hardmode.

Trivia

  • On the Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, the status message that appears when the Angler dies reads "Angler was slain…" due to the game not being updated by Re-Logic for those platforms. He still vanishes in a puff of smoke.
