The Hamburglar is a character appearing in commercials for the fast food brand McDonald's, serving as the archenemy of Ronald McDonald. In 2025, he appeared in several promotions for A Minecraft Movie.

Appearance

The Hamburglar is a humanoid figure, with warm pale skin, red hair, and a distinctive outfit. Being a burglar, he wears a black mask, a large black and yellow hat, and striped shirt and pants. He is quite literally red handed, wearing gloves. Befitting the hamburger theme, he also wears a red necktie covered in Big Macs.

Within the Minecraft style of the campaign, however, he looks noticeably different. His normally round head is proportionate to similar species, while his gag nose is now a cube. His limbs are all cuboids, with no visible wrists, and square fingertips. His ears bulge out of the side of his head, in a similar method to a sheep.

While turned into a zombie, he resembles his normal-to-Minecraft appearance, save for the loss of gloves and green skin that either removes or blends in with his hair. However, in merchandise his skin is now green, albeit more of a bluish, teal shade than is typical of zombies. His nose is also noticeably absent, leaving only his mouth.

Personality

Obsessed with hamburgers and besting his enemies, the Hamburglar is a very silly but nonetheless dangerous individual. He is always concocting schemes to steal food, almost exclusively from McDonald's, but is always foiled by Ronald.[1][2] In spite of the constant conflict, little bad blood exists between them, to the point he is regularly treated as part of the gang.[3][4]

Characteristically of him, he will often say "robble robble," either interspersed with or in place of dialogue.[5][6]

Biography

One day, Hamburglar and his friends appeared in the Overworld. Taking on new, blocky forms, they embark on a journey to explore a biome. While Grimace and Birdie went on their own adventures, Hamburglar stuck to a large burger-shaped construct, presumably having made it. While returning to it with a plate of food, he was quickly alerted to the appearance of monsters, and fled inside for shelter. However, a lone zombie managed to break inside.

At an unknown time, he was transformed into a zombie, and began stalking the lands for hamburgers.
